Woodland Motor Lodge

This hotel is absolutely amazing. It’s clean and the young lady that helped me was awesome! I was really tired and planned on getting a couple of hours of sleep, and heading back on the road. But it was so calming it turned into the whole night. This place is really awesome..

I stayed at the Woodland Motor Lodge August 22-24, 2025, and it was a rather pleasant experience. I typically stay in B&Bs or Hilton hotels(solely because I earn points, I'm not picky), but I needed to stay somewhere in Grayling, and as I have traveled much this year, I was looking for something a bit more budget-friendly. This place definitely fit the bill, and, after reading reviews, I was sold. Check-in was no-contact, which I always appreciate. I stayed in Room 28. It was a larger room than I had expected, which was a nice surprise. I was greeted by ice cold air conditioning, which was refreshing, as it was warm when I arrived, and you can control the temperature in your room. The room is less modern than what I'm used to with hotels, but it was very clean, plus quaint and charming, which I prefer, actually. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the shower perfect, wifi strong, there were numerous channels on the television, and the refrigerator/freezer combo was bigger than what you usually get at a chain hotel, which was great. The grounds were absolutely lovely, and included a fire pit, a nature trail, a pavillion, children's toys, a large outdoor chess/checkers game, and many other treats. There is a long walking/biking trail right across the street, so that was nice, and, from what I could tell, runs all the way to Hartwick Pines, which is only a few minutes away by car. The property was pretty quiet during my stay. I enjoyed my time at Woodland so much, I booked it for another trip I have coming up. I will definitely be back for return trips in the future!

We have stayed here several times now and will not stay anywhere else. We actually book our golf trips based on when we can get accommodations here. The rooms are very clean and well maintained. They have everything you need for a comfortable stay. The owners are super and do everything they can to make sure you enjoy your stay. We have recommended this place to several people. You can't go wrong with booking here. And you can NOT beat the price for what you get. It is obvious the owners take great pride in their place and in making customers want to return.

When I want a reasonably priced place for an overnight stay on a trip, I like to avoid chain hotels that are expensive and sometimes disappointing, but it can be hard to find a personally owned classic motel type property. This one hits the mark. I was looking for an overnight stay on my way up to the Upper Peninsula, and Woodland is just off I-75. You can trust the positive reviews here. We got the basic room with two queens, and will say the room was small but everything else met expectations: it was super clean and everything was in good order. Even the TV gets a lot of channels, which is not always the case. The property has a lot of character, with a large courtyard with picnic and game area, a kids play area, and in the evening, a firepit, with wood provided on an honor system, which we took advantage of. On-site staff guy Jesse helped me obtain some kindling to get the fire going! It is clear that proprietor Diane (I believe it was her sister Brenda on duty when we were there) is determined to run an inviting property for both guests and staff. We greatly enjoyed our one night here, and I highly recommend.

We just spent 2 nights there over the weekend and had a great stay. We had 2 dogs with us and it was perfect! Will definitely be back if we’re in the area again.

Great atmosphere great staff! Very nice place to get away from the highway and not feel like you're in a sardine can! Shower's could use work and a little dusty so close to perfect don't let it hold you back tho. Place is very organized and clean would recommend and come again! Fully furnished rooms with a microwave and mini fridge/freezer combo! Excellent fire pits outside such a cozy place!

I love this place! Simple, very clean, and affordable. Also love that they provided a few extras for my boyfriends birthday! I'm the girl that checks every nook and cranny in a hotel room, when I dont have a reason to complain, I give 5 stars, well deserved

We rented a cabin with family and were very comfortable. We were very happy to be able to bring our dog and the nominal pet fee was far less than boarding! The cabin was clean and comfortable and the amenities were great (dog area, bonfire pit with wood, yard games like horseshoes and corn hole). We highly recommend!!!
